Why a Copenhagen MatchUp?

Access to the global market for entertainment and functional solutions from the digital visual industry is both a gigantic opportunity for Danish entrepreneurs and gaming companies, but it is also a critical formula for success. Business models, consumer behaviors and technologies are constantly changing, requiring ever more development and investment.

As a Danish entrepreneur or SME, collaborations with the world’s largest media and technology companies as well as Danish and international investors are of great importance for them to be able to assert themselves in the international market.

With Copenhagen MatchUp, the innovative power of Danish companies is released effectively by knowing demand and technology requirements from global players such as Netflix, Google and Apple as precisely as possible, and combining this with creative design, storytelling and interactive experiences. Publishers and other capital players in the digital visual industry from the highest level, on the other hand, have the opportunity to meet companies early in their development and ensure the development of exactly the innovation they seek for their media platforms, user groups and product and investment portfolios.

A real match thus provides access to collaborate on innovation and knowledge sharing between companies, publishers and investors at the same time as investment and business development on both sides.

About Copenhagen MatchUp

Copenhagen MatchUp matches entrepreneurs and SMEs in the gaming industry with publishers, investors and other relevant players. The event started as an investment event in 2017, and has grown year by year. Last year, more than 350 individual meetings were held between 120 companies from 14 different countries. Among the concrete results that can be traced directly back to the event is a partnership between Aarhus-based Kong Orange and German Daedelic Entertainment on the release of the game “Felix the Reaper” (2019), an investment agreement between British London Venture Partners and Danish Betadwarf (2017) as well as an investment agreement between Swedish Goodbye Kansas and Danish Framebunker (2018).

In 2022, in addition to matching entrepreneurs and SMEs with publishers and investors, Copenhagen MatchUp will also include professional presentations on recent trends in game development that are relevant to creating new products or developing new business models.

Copenhagen MatchUp is arranged by Vision Denmark in collaboration with the Producers’ Association. Read what role MatchUp plays for the Danish gaming companies Portaplay and SYBO here.
